The department of ‘Bodo’ established in 1993 while the college was started. The department is one of the major departments in Mushalpur College. This is the highest students’ enrolled department in the college. Presently, the department is functioning by taking some additional services like departmental seminar, field study, symposia, with future plan of action to strengthen and enrich the teaching-learning, extension and research activities. The department looks forward to the upcoming academic trends of the global perspectives. Since the inception, the department has been taking the initiative.
Objectives of the department:
a. The department aims at imparting quality education to the students.
b. To acquaint students in the field of language, literature and culture in response to the demands of the time locally and globally.
c. To provide the knowledge of the Bodo language, literature as well as composite culture of the Bodos from folkloristic point of view.
d. To adequate the knowledge of Language, literature, arts and culture of the Assam as well as North east India and nation abroad.
e. The department also seeks to make the students acquainted with the origin and historical development of the Bodo language and literature.
f. To involve the students in research based knowledge and activities.

Bodo department offers Honours/Major and Regular/General both facilities to the students under CBCS mode of Bodoland University.
